Welcome

Thankyou for your interest in the Women's Walking Group, Purley Pathfinders.

I have lived in Purley since 1979 but there are many beautiful areas on the doorstep I have yet to explore. Now, with the company of a lovely group of ladies, I feel safe to do so. Hopefully horizons will be broadened for us all! Walks are held weekly on a variety of days so everyone should 'get a go' each month. Each walk includes a 'banana break' so do bring a drink and high energy snack, especially on the longer walks.

Most walks offer a lift share. This is more fun, and means less pollution. If feasible either organise lifts amongst yourselves, or be at the lift-share point just before the time specified to either offer, or take up a lift. The lift-share leaves at the time specified to ensure no one has to rush the journey. Purley Village is the usual pick-up point and this is the road off to the left at the bottom of New Hill in Purley. There is space to park near the junction of Mapledurham Drive.

Very well mannered dogs are welcome on certain walks, but should remain on a lead throughout.

Any of you botanists, ornithologists or historians please feel free to add any snippets of interesting info. We may return home fitter and more knowledgeable!

Everyone walks at their own risk, but you can help keep yourself safe by wearing suitable boots and perhaps carrying a stick for slippery places. We are going to be out in the countryside so we will come across muddy tracks, uneven & ploughed fields, stiles etc so please dress sensibly!

I look forward to meeting you on the first of many happy walks together.
